Ethics in Machiavellis The Prince Essay -- Machiavelli The Prince

Ethics in Machiavelli's The Prince Niccolo Machiavelli (1469-1527) was an Italian statesman and political philosopher. He was employed on diplomatic missions as defence secretary of the Florentine republic, and was tortured when the Medici returned to power in 1512. When he retired from public life he wrote his most famous work, The Prince (1532), which describes the means by which a leader may gain and maintain power. The Prince has had a long and chequered history and the number of controversies that it has generated is indeed surprising. Almost every ideology has tried to appropriate it for itself - as a result everyone from Clement VII to Mussolini has laid claim to it. Yet there were times when it was terribly unpopular. Its author was seen to be in league with the devil and the connection between 'Old Nick' and Niccolo Machiavelli was not seen as merely nominal. The Elizabethans conjured up the image of the 'murdering Machiavel' [1] and both the Protestants and the later Catholics held his book responsible for evil things. Any appraisal of the book therefore involved some ethical queasiness. Modern scholarship may have removed the stigma of devilry from Machiavelli, but it still seems uneasy as to his ethical position. Croce [2] and some of his admirers like Sheldon Wolin [3] and Federic Chabod [4] have pointed out the existence of an ethics-politics dichotomy in Machiavelli. Isaiah Berlin [5] postulates a system of morality outside the Christian ethical schema. Ernst Cassirer [6] calls him a cold technical mind implying that his attitude to politics would not necessarily involve ethics. And Macaulay [7] sees him as a man of his time going by the actual ethical positions of Quattrocento Italy. In the face of s... ...erlin, Isaiah. The Question of Machiavelli. These dominant economic traits indicate that the structure of this industry is difficult to earn a positive income because is a small industry segment and is dominated by large firms. What kinds of competitive forces are at work? So, the treat of substitutes seems not an important factor. Intensity of rivalry – high * There are a lot of brands existing in the market. They try to differentiate themselves in order to find their niche and decrease competition, but nonetheless in every niche there are 3-5 direct competitors of different size, but in some locations there are only 1-2 firms and so these locations are quite attractive to the new entrants.Competition primarily based on the customer image that firm created and quality, price is the second thing. E-commerce also forces competition because it seriously increases availability of the product in any location. Value-Net * Target a celebrity that is known to ware specialty products. Partner with a magazine who target women over 35 but they were luxury clothes. Partner with other high quality products like cars and phones. Is an extreme competitive industry and there are few complements that would provide options to expand the size of the market. What forces are driving change? Luxury fashion spending was up 35 % in 2010, while mainstream fashion gained 8 % overall. +, Great growth of department stores+, 2009 worse holiday season generate a wave of retail closures among many well- known brands. -, 2008 women’s clothes retailer had felt downturn and lost customers and cause shoppers to cut back on purchases. -, Customer had shown a clear preference for select high-end apparel willing to pay a premium on something that delivers luxury+ Spending in valued-oriented stores has been stable- China wages increase were causing inflation in merchandise manufacturing. Over the next few days is going to be rare for specialty apparel retailer to return to its historical level of profitability. – Over all the trends seem to be negative making the industry more comperative. 4. Focused Health Care Planning For Students 2019

Educators and health care professionals alike recognize the importance of health care planning in the school environment. Our public schools are increasingly burdened with the task of attending to the health of its students. With both parents working in the majority of American households, more children with mild illness are being sent off to school. As school district budgets go through regular budget cuts, special programs are being dropped. This means that students with special needs who might have landed in a tutoring program or special education classroom are being integrated into the general school population. These trends have resulted in a significant expansion of the school nurses duties. Today a school nurse may be charged with dispensing medicine and then monitoring reaction to the medication, with monitoring glucose levels for diabetic students, with dispensing medication and treatment for the onset of chronic conditions such as asthma or an allergy attack, and so on. Ninety plus percent of public school nurses report caring for students with seizures, with diabetes and with chronic and severe asthma. .u4f19ceeb49225a8bd8ab90017013cd10 { padding:0px; margin: 0; padding-top:1em!important; padding-bottom:1em!important; width:100%; display: block; font-weight:bold; background-color:#eaeaea; border:0!important; border-left:4px solid #34495E!important; box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -moz-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -o-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -webkit-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); text-decoration:none; } .u4f19ceeb49225a8bd8ab90017013cd10:active, .u4f19ceeb49225a8bd8ab90017013cd10:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; text-decoration:none; } .u4f19ceeb49225a8bd8ab90017013cd10 { transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; } .u4f19ceeb49225a8bd8ab90017013cd10 .ctaText { font-weight:bold; color:inherit; text-decoration:none; font-size: 16px; } .u4f19ceeb49225a8bd8ab90017013cd10 .post Title { color:#000000; text-decoration: underline!important; font-size: 16px; } .u4f19ceeb49225a8bd8ab90017013cd10:hover .postTitle { text-decoration: underline!important; } READ Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Learn What it Takes to Be a Chief Financial Officer (CFO)It has become a generally accepted premise that for students with special needs or with chronic health problems, it is good policy for the school nurse and/or school staff to develop an individual health plan for each of them. The process should begin with an in-depth interview with the student and parents or caregivers. The schools nursing office needs to assemble as comprehensive a health record as possible on the student who may experience ongoing problems in school. This interview may be conducted with the student as active participant and the result needs to be a careful review of the childs medical history and what early symptoms may be for the onset of medical difficulty. The next step in the individualized health care plan is inclusion of treatment recommendations for the most common occurrences. The most common chronic medical emergency in school is some sort of respiratory problem. School staff should know if there has been medication prescribed for such incidents and, if so, have some provided to them by the parent. This portion of the plan should also include a discussion of the early warning signs that might be given off by the student and that information should be distributed to the appropriate teachers and school staff. .u6ec75e1f56cd70cdb9148a98019c621a { padding:0px; margin: 0; padding-top:1em!important; padding-bottom:1em!important; width:100%; display: block; font-weight:bold; background-color:#eaeaea; border:0!important; border-left:4px solid #34495E!important; box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -moz-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -o-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -webkit-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); text-decoration:none; } .u6ec75e1f56cd70cdb9148a98019c621a:active, .u6ec75e1f56cd70cdb9148a98019c621a:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; text-decoration:none; } .u6ec75e1f56cd70cdb9148a98019c621a { transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; } .u6ec75e1f56cd70cdb9148a98019c621a .ctaText { font-weight:bold; color:inherit; text-decoration:none; font-size: 16px; } .u6ec75e1f56cd70cdb9148a98019c621a .post Title { color:#000000; text-decoration: underline!important; font-size: 16px; } .u6ec75e1f56cd70cdb9148a98019c621a:hover .postTitle { text-decoration: underline!important; } READ An Executive MBA Is The Leadership DegreeIndividualized school health plans should include contact numbers for the childs regular physician along with a list of any medications that the child is currently using or has been prescribed in the past. Also included in the plan should be treatment suggestions based on accepted medical practice and on what has been successful for the child during past occurrences. For children with a history of emotional dysfunction, the treatment history is particularly important. Sometimes a soothing word in the right context will accomplish more than any pharmaceutical alternative. The individualized plan should also provide specifics for follow up on an incident. This may include contact with the parents, the childs physician if allowed, and the child himself.
